Point Seven Farmstead in Harrison, Michigan We are a Completely Natural Farmstead In Harmony With Mother EarthHOLY BASIL SEEDS aka TulsiGROWING ZONES 4 TO 11 THIS ADAPTOGENIC HERB IS ALSO VERY AROMATIC. IT SMELLS LIKE BUBBLE GUM! GROWING INFO: Tiny black seeds are inside seed pods. Break up pods a bit & broadcast well after last frost. Rake in or tamp. Can be started in pots; best started outside. Keep moist during germination. NOT frost tolerant. These seeds require both sunlight and warmer soil temperatures to germinate. The warmer the soil, the faster they will germinate. They germinate at temperatures of 70 degrees and higher (Consider using a heat mat under a starter tray). Sow the seeds by gently pressing them onto the soil surface, ensuring they don't sink into darkness when watering. Keep the seeds and soil moist during the germination phase. Germination time takes up to 30 days. Likes full sun & rich soil. Grows 1-2 ft tall. Use leaves in cooking or dry for tea. Blooms in late summer with bubble gum smelling pink flowers loved by pollinators. You dont need to take the seeds out of the pods. Just break the pods up and spread around. We keep the seeds in the pods for best storage and decrease in our prep time of packaging. In fall, before temps go below 40, transplant into a pot & bring indoors to sunny window for beautiful fragrance all winter! Use fresh leaves for cooking, chewing. Trim & save seedpods when they turn brown. Plant next year. Dry leaves & save for tea/culinary/medicinal use. Holy basil is known to be a sacred plant in some cultures. It is in a class of herbs known as ‘adaptogens’ which have medicinal value. May have insect repellant qualities. Takes longer to dry in a dehydrator than you would expect. You may want to dry at a higher temperature than usual, although it could lose a bit of medicinal value that way. ABOUT POINT SEVEN FARMSTEAD: We are an all natural small farmstead in Harrison, Michigan, growing in harmony with nature. We are on the line of growing zones 4B and 5A. We grow all natural produce, starts, seeds, herbs, & wildflowers. We also do nature photos & art! We are not certified organic. However, we do not use any kinds of chemicals on our farm. When we buy seeds or plants, we make sure they are organic. We dont use pesticides or herbicides or fungicides that are not all natural. In fact, we never really have to use these things because we grow small scale and work with the earth. If we did use something, it would likely be organic soap and water, neem, or diatomaceous earth. We water our crops with our deep well water which we test regularly. We are in the country where the air quality is usually very good. We have a lot of woods near our farmstead and wildlife is abundant. We have deer, fox, rabbit, dozens of bird species including hawk and pileated woodpecker, coyote, bear, and cougar in the woods near our farmstead. One of our missions is to become self-sufficient in growing all of our own food and to help others do the same. SUPER FAST SHIPPING!!!
