Description: Very interesting hand-written land document for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania from 1794, granting acreage to Robert Wescott. It details the borders by counting off "perches" (5.5 yards, I discovered) to various landmarks, mostly trees--i.e., "a small hemlock" or "to a beech". It measures about 7.5" x 12", double sided. At the bottom it says it is a "true copy of a Patent as recorded in Book P P. 305 remaining in the office of the Surveyor General of Pennsylvania" and is dated 1853 with two witnesses, J Porter Brawley and Thomas G Reheer. Other names mentioned are some revolutionary war era men--Daniel Wheeler, John Teel (Leel?), John Shook. It is signed by Thomas Mifflin, the first governor of PA but I think this is a clerk's hand since it is an 1853 copy. Good condition with some wear to folds and light staining. With some pencil notations.
