This is a clear and collectible specimen of the coveted 1877 cent, of which only 5,000 are believed to be left - and the 877,000 reported mintage seems to be an overcount, as only one set of dies seemed to be used, and this coin is apparently highly scarce. This is not a good candidate for anything higher than G, as the rim is intact (and so above AG), but barely so, as can be seen in the photos and as we first looked and held our breaths! Such key date coins are ideal for mounting in a coin folder; we have another one on sale in a slab but most collectors use coin folders through dollars.
