Great Britain (General). New York. One of three double-deck London buses scheduled to make aa goodwill tour of the United States, is unloaded from the liner Parthia here yesterday. At right are Bert and Rebecca Matthews, king and queen of London "coster-mongers." That is Cockney for persons authorized to solicit contributions for charity on the streets, and clothes adorned with mother of pearl buttons are their "uniforms." The buses and the "coster-mongers" were brought there to promote tourist trade for Britain. The bus caravan will visit 46 major cities in an 8,000 miles swing to the west coast by a southerly route and back by a northerly one. Photo measures 9.5 x 7.75inches. Photo is dated 3-19-1952.
