1959 Chevrolet Corvette

Description: This car is a rare restomod that looks like an original until you lift the hood or look underneath. It has had a full body-off restoration. The builder did not want huge wide steamroller tires. The original look is loved and the car was built to preserve that incredible look. So many will advertise their cars as restomods but they have a conventional carb and old style 4 speed. To me that means it is not a restomod. This car is a restomod and has a Corvette fuel injected engine. It has a new Tremec 5 speed with replica shifter to look original. The console shift plate does have the 5 speed pattern on it. The rearend is a completely new 9" from John's Industries. It was built to be a bolt in unit to replace the original perfectly. The rear springs are composite for better ride and quicker rebound. Quiet too. It has independant front suspension with rack and pinion POWER steering. 4 wheel disc brakes. VINTAGE AIR that blows cold. Power windows. The original seats were covered with a special order (original look) full leather from Corvette America.The originals only came vinyl. Of course their new foam was added too. A New style wiper system was used to replace the old cable driven system. All chrome was new or rechromed. Windshield and side glass are new. Dash, door panels (including metal trim) , carpet all new. New weatherstripping added after paint. New wiring throughout. Custom replica Wonderbar radio was added but provides stereo sound through hidden speakers. An original hardtop was purchased from Glassworks/ The Hardtop Shop (Imperial Pennsylvania). They fully restored it. They do great work! The car also has the soft top that is hidden when not in use under the decklid. The cooling is accomplished by a Wizards rad/electric fan combo. The rad is a work of art. The car rides on Diamondback classic radials with 2 3/4 wide whitewalls. The exhaust is new with crossover and stainless Magnaflo oval mufflers. The car sounds great. A lot of deliberation occurred with choosing the color. 59 had a color called classic cream but was essentially a pale yellow.a little too pale. 58 had Panama yellow but looked to greenish on certain days. The choice was made for Porsche pastel yellow available on the 1997 911 turbo. It looks great on cloudy days, sunny days and at night. Restomods have surpassed the price of the original cars at every auction for about 15 years.
