Franklin Half Dollar Grading Scale & Guidelines: As understood and in relation to condition notes and guidelines, a Franklin Half Dollar in "Very Fine" condition has a number of flat areas visible and noticeable to the naked eye. Most of the roundness is gone to Franklin eyebrow, cheek, and hair, ultimately lacking the detail that would make it XF. The once highly detailed Liberty bell is smooth with some detail across the coin. Obverse: The hair across the top of head has some detail. Behind Franklin's ear, most the strands of hair have merged. Cheek under eye has lost a majority of roundness and conveys flatness. Reverse: Most lettering on the Liberty Bell is illegible and indistinct. There could be flatting to beam and strap. The center of the small eagle has lost most of all the feather details.
