1973 Rolls-Royce Corniche

Description: 1973 Rolls-Royce Corniche 2-Door Saloon - Extremely Rare Concours-Level Example This RARE Rolls-Royce Corniche Two Door Saloon (also known as 'Fixed Head Coupe') was ordered new by then-racing legend Chris Meek in the UK on March 28, 1973 and delivered new to the buyer on October 29, 1973 with registration number CM 1. The car was later sold to a US buyer and imported to the US in 1985. I have original photos of the car when new (in the gallery) with Chris Meek and Valerie "Valli" Stack, also a circuit racer in the era. It was ordered in a rare Lamborghini color, 'Champagne Espada Acrilico' given Chris Meek's association with Lamborghini while racing their Espadas around the UK and European tracks. The color was a medium gold-yellow which was very 'period' at the time (see the original photos!) At some point around 1985 the car was sold and imported to the US (documents on hand). The car was driven very infrequently as a classic collector's car and later refinished in the 2000s via a full body, chrome-off restoration in Ivory, the color it now proudly wears. Over the years many mechanical records reflecting ongoing regular maintenance as well as minor fixes are on hand, as well as RREC build records with many pages documenting the birth of the car. The body is extremely clean, mint and show-ready, with not a single scratch or blemish to be found. The paint is smooth and glassy due to many coats of fine waxes over the years and little to no exposure to the elements. The pictures show a body with not a single scratch, blemish or nick on it, and in person, the color is even better (and shinier - light colors are difficult to photograph to flatter their gloss). The chrome is near-perfect, with zero pitting or deterioration save for one small area on the underside of the rear bumper on the left side, nearly invisible without getting underneath the car. The glass is perfect and the rubber seals are also very tight and intact. The interior is exceptional, with the Connolly leather hides having been retrimmed in the 2000s in the correct Connolly leather and pattern for the year, and the wood is as close to perfect as it can be. The carpets are extremely clean and tight and the lambswool coverings are clean and intact with solid tufting. All of the interior chrome is bright and clean and the plastic parts on the dash and elsewhere are clean and perfectly colored. Mechanically and electronically the car is nearly perfect, with everything working and performing as it should. The car was maintained by highly experienced Rolls-Royce mechanics over the years and the car needs nothing as it sits. The car's driving performance is excellent, and all electronics except for the cruise control are working (this could be repaired but I didn't bother). The rear bushings have been replaced and all brake systems and hydraulics have been flushed and kept in perfect shape, and the car's on-the-road performance is smooth and solid. The A/C has been converted to R134 and blows ice cold, and a newer Blaupunkt UK radio with Bluetooth has been installed discreetly in the spot where the aging 1980s radio sat. The interior is a wonderful place to spend some time, almost as if in a leather chair inside a British library or smoking lounge (given all the ashtrays around the car, very period-1973). This very rare chrome-bumper 'two door saloon' must be seen to be appreciated! Only 1,090 fixed-head Corniche coupes were produced over the years (initially as a special coachbuilt James Young or Mulliner Park-Ward, later named 'Corniche' from 1971) and with the Everflex roof they are even rarer.
