Description: Up for auction is this Uncirculated group of $2.00 Series 1976, Bicentennial Notes. There are 2 notes in this group, and they grade Uncirculated or better. Both notes in this group are Series 1976 Federal Reserve Notes. One note is FR# 1935-B from the New York District B-A Block and the other note is FR# 1935-C from the Philadelphia District C-A Block . These notes both have a 13 cent Stamp carefully attached to them. What makes these notes unusual is that they are Postmarked April 13, 1976 the Official First Day of Issue from a New Jersey Post Office! Please note that any Moire Pattern that occurs on two of the obverse scans, in the screened oval portrait area, is NOT actually in the notes themselves! Please look the scans over carefully and judge the quality of the notes for yourself before bidding! There was a big stir when these notes originally came out.! The last $2.00 Bills produced in the United States were Series 1963-A Legal Tender / Unites States Notes with the Red Treasury Seal and Serial Numbers. The BEP had not produced any $2.00 Bills since 1966, when they discontinued printing $2.00 Legals as a way of phasing out the use of Legal Tender / Unites States notes all together, by only producing the $100 denomination. The United States Treasury had to satisfy the Act of May 3, 1878’s requirement that $346,681,016. be in circulation. It had been 10 years since the public has the opportunity to own newly printed $2.00 Bills, and the very first time that the BEP produced that denomination as a Federal Reserve Note with a Green Seal! This coupled with this Country’s Bicentennial Anniversary all added to the frenzy for people to get a souvenir!! This small group of 2 - $2.00 Series 1976 Federal Reserve Notes are crisp & original. Each note has a 13 cent stamp which has been cancelled. The Serial numbers are as follows: 1. Blackwood, NJ = Serial Number: C12095161A 2. Garwood, NJ = Serial Number: B03332557A This group of 2 notes are both Uncirculated. There may be a bit more handling as the postage stamps were all affixed by hand, then hand postmarked on April 13, 1976, the Official First Day of Issue. This is a great opportunity to put away a small group of Uncirculated Bicentennial $2.00 Federal Reserve Notes, Series 1976. This group should appeal to the Dealers, Collectors, and Promoters. This is a great inexpensive gift for the Grand Kids, something that will get them more involved in the History of our Country! Don’t miss out on this opportunity to own a very affordable group of notes, that should appreciate over time. The signatures on this note are: Treasurer of The United States: Francine I.
