Description: Thinning out my 30+ year collection of great Baltimore Maryland and Carroll County soda, beer and whiskey bottles. Any references to a # are from the 2019 edition of Baltimore’s Pre-Prohibition Breweries & Bottles (also available on ebay).https://www.ebay.com/itm/204786885849Please look at the pictures carefully. I can provide additional pictures upon request. Offered for sale is #325 an aqua hand blown beer bottle with a blob top. The Bay View Brewery was established in Baltimore in 1868. The Norfolk Branch was not a brewery but just a bottling house. Baltimore would have shipped it's beer in kegs to Norfolk where it would have been siphoned from the keg and bottled. Very few Baltimore based breweries were popular enough to have branches outside of Baltimore however for whatever reason Bay View was also to pull this off. Probably not too successfully as Norfolk Branch bottle is listed as Rare to Very Rare as not that many have survived. This example is in good condition. The embossing is strong and without case wear. The bottle has not been professionally cleaned but displays very well with some internal staining. There are no chips, cracks etc. These bottles were blown at the Dominick O. Cunningham Glass Works in Pittsburgh, PA priot to 1898. By 1901 the Bay View Brewery is bought out by the Maryland Brewing Company who continues to ship beer to Norfolk using GBS bottles until 1910. Embossed in a small oval slugplate as:BAY VIEW BREWERYTRADE (BVB motif) MARKNORFOLKBRANCH
