Description: You are looking at pipestone / Catlinite peace pipe blank that is drilled and ready to be made into a pipe. You will receive the exact pipe blank shown in the photos. This red pipestone was quarried by hand from the sacred quarries located at Pipestone National Monument. Pipestone / Catlinite is used to make Native American peace pipes and many other crafts. This item is perfect for someone who would like to make their own larger pipe. This blank is ideal for ceremonial use once completed because it is large enough for several people to smoke from. The photos are shown with the blank wet to preview what it will look like after the sanding and polishing finishing process. It measures 6-3/4 inches long. Stands 3-1/2 inches tall, and is 1 inch wide. This is bottom layer pipestone. Slightly harder than the top layer but is still easily carvable with a wood file. The holes are pre drilled, drilled straight and this piece of stone is solid with no cracks or fissures. It Appears to be basically a deep solid red. I knocked the corners off of one side on the bowl to test the hardness of the stone, the rest will be up to you. I am a 5th generation Pipe maker, a lineal descendant of the Sisseton-Wahpeton Tribe although not enrolled myself. I’m happy to send any additional photos or answer any questions. I do have several listings at this time and will also take personal orders done through eBay. Thanks for looking!
