Description: Antique 19th century 24 piece silver plated dessert canteen A superb set of quality silver plated dessert spoons and forks for 12 place setting. They are presented in a rich red leather case, decorated with gold tone trim. There id a monogrammed brass plate and handle on the lid and two brass clip closures. The case is lined with a red felt with a cushioned lid Eight of the forks have the quality maker's mark E. Tonnelier. Four of the fork were probably mislaid over time, so have had matching replacements which are marked with number 5 and Metal Blanc. Eleven of the spoons are also marked for E. Tonnelier. One spoon has been replaced which bears the Christofle mark. The company, founded in 1845 by E. Tonnelier was acquired in 1882 by Louis Ravinet This canteen was obviously originally owned by a very 'well-to-do' household as it is of obvious quality. The replacements over the years are in keeping with the quality and style of the original set. In good used antique condition with associated marks and wear. The canteen is in sound condition with some rubbing and wear to the leather surface, the hinges and clasps are in good order. Approx. dimensions - 29.5cm D x 26.5cm W x 7cm H / Weight 3kg The items I sell are in a used antique or vintage condition. This means they may have related flaws or defects.
