Description: This antique French copper daubière roast pan braisière is a two-piece set that includes a lid. It weighs 12.9Lbs or 5.8kilos With the handles , it measures 17.5 inches or 45cm long, 10 inches by or 25cm wide . A daubière is a peculiarly French pan intended for the, ‘daube’, a dish with no specific recipe or definition, but is usually understood to incorporate beef, lamb, pork, or chicken, accompanied by similarly sturdy vegetables, left to cook for several hours in a few inches of broth or wine sauce in a well-sealed pot. This antique piece is handmade and has dovetailed joints . It was manufactured in France, during the late 19th century, between 1850 and 1899. The initial H is both on the lid and on the main vessel. The mark of its maker. The handles are bronze and have copper rivets. Notably, the top handle has double rivets , a good indication of quality and age. The tin lining is worn but very much present. Overall, in lovely antique condition, the copper is bright and shiny, lots of signs of age and use, some knocks, the tining inside has darkened with use.
