Description: AMTHOR Instrument Company Yarn Balance Brooklyn NY. Circa 1800’s. They used 12 inches of spun yarn to tell them how many yards are in approximately one pound of spun yarn. This was state of the art in the 1800’s and used as late as 1960’s woolen mill labs. This has not been calibrated in anyway. We had it on display. We picked this up from a closing commercial spinning mill laboratory in North Carolina. We have had this in our Mill since ~ 1991. Time for it to have a new home. A very cool piece of Americana. Has wear visible. We included photos that show wear. Questions please ask. Per a request, I examined the scale again to specifically look for damage. I have included a new close up photo of the arm that shows a possible anomaly at the lower end of the pointer. This photo shows possible minor (corrected) damage to pointer. This is pointer appears to be made of brass. Dimensions: Height 21 inches Depth (width base) 9 inches Width (widest point) 20 inches Flat rate USA shipping. Item will be insured.
