Description: Beautiful heavy silver mesh belt with medallions, most likely from the Indian origin of Tamil Nadu, late 19th or very early 20th century. Feaures three center panels with screw closures all with figural relief, sides are flanked by 27 medallions alternating with scrolls, flowers, and dancers, was most likely used as a bridal belt, belt is not adjustable. Measures 33" long fully open x 7/8" wide (1 1/4" at buckle), weighs 418 grams (14.7 ounces), Belt is unmarked though believed to be 800 sterling. In Excellent antique condition, there are a few rough spots to the mesh by the buckle as shown. A fine addition to any home or collection! Shipping is FREE in the Continental USA.
