Description: For sale today is a pair of exquisite lamps made from Chinese table screens. These Chinese table screens have removable mirrors. All of it is made of rosewood that has been intricately in laid with mother of pearl and stained black to enhance the mother of pearl decoration. Each lamp features a stunning rosewood base intricately carved with traditional Chinese designs. The mother of pearl inlay throughout adds to the lamp's luxurious antique appeal, while the silk shades elegantly diffuse the light. While these were retro-fitted to become lamps, this was done many years ago as the age of the lamp conduit appears to be patina’d and the cords are aged as well. Both lamps work beautifully. There are a few issues to disclose: Some mother of pearl missing, I counted 8 pieces randomly here and there. One mirror has been replaced, the original mirror is spotty with age (love it!). The support pieces at the back of one have been replaced. They have not been painted so it’s easy to tell which ones they are, paint if you wish. Some minor rips to inside of silk shades lining. All in all, these fabulous lamps are amazing. The screens stand 16” tall by 12” wide and 5.5” at the base. With the shade they stand 29.5” to top of finial. The shades appear to be custom made and are silk, there are some rips to the inside of the shades lining. I do not have to include shades which will save on shipping. These would make a fabulous addition to your collection of Chinese antiques. One is rare, two almost unheard of.
