Description: This is a darling wall hanging made from a hand-embroidered, red turkey work piece of linen. I made this as a wall hanging for my granddaughter when she was 2 years old. She was graduating from her crib to a "big girl bed", and this hung on the wall in her room. She used it for many years and loved it. The linen piece is 25"L X 13 1/2"W. It is hung from a large dowel by 5 pieces of white grosgrain ribbon, accented with rosettes made from red and white gingham ribbon with green leaves. The dowel is suspended with a red braided cording with red tassels on either end. The charming design of the red work is that of a young girl and boy, in colonial era clothing. The boy is beating a tree, probably harvesting nuts. There is a red embroidered border which surrounds the entire piece. There are a couple of very minor condition issues. There are very tiny holes where someone used thumb tacks to secure the piece to the wall. It's a shame, because this wasn't necessary to do. See photos #5,6,and 7. The piece could probably use a gentle washing and pressing, but I will leave that up to the next owner. Alas, my granddaughter is 24 now, so we are ready to pass this on to another little girl to love.
