I am not a grading expert, so please see photos for more details. DescriptionIssue 1: Part 1 of the 4-part 'Rogue Ship.' Imagine a universe where the laws of physics are based on the rules of magic. Where entire solar systems float on seas of highly flammable Phlogistan inside huge spheres, and massive living spaceships travel between the stars in their own self-contained atmospheres. Wonder no longer, because all that describes the world of SPELLJAMMER, the latest entry in DC's line of TSR Comics. The focus of this title of interstellar sword-and-sorcery is the crew of a mysterious living spaceship, the vehicle that will take us all among the various worlds of the TSR universe. Written by Barbara Kesel, with art by Michael Collins and Dan Panosian. Cover by Collins. New Format. (See TSR Worlds (1990) #1 for the debut of SPELLJAMMER.) Issue 2: Part 2 of the 4-part 'Rogue Ship.' The crew of the Spelljammer's been kidnapped and are in danger of being enslaved...by the ship itself. Written by Barbara Kesel, with art by Michael Collins and Dan Panosian. Cover by Collins. New Format. Issue 3: Part 3 of the 4-part 'Rogue Ship.' With Meredith at the helm, the living spacecraft is surrounded by the hostile Neogi. If Meredith holds steady and the ship doesn't panic, they might just survive - maybe. Written by Barbara Kesel, with art by Michael Collins and Dan Panosian. Cover by Collins. New Format. Issue 4: Part 4 of the 4-part 'Rogue Ship.' The ship is on its way back to Unipaxala with its crew and the unwilling Kirstig, but safety is a long way away as they run into a horde of Neogi and Umber Hulks that see Spelljammer as their dinner. Written by Barbara Kesel, with art by Michael Collins and Dan Panosian. Cover by Collins. New Format. Issue 5: The ship touches down on a planet populated by a most unpleasant race of beings...and, much to the crew's alarm, Meredith seems to like it there. Written by Barbara Kesel, with art by Michael Collins, Jim Fern and Jerry Acerno. Cover by Collins and Joe Rubinstein. New Format. Issue 8: Meredith unleashes a heretofore unseen level of mystical power which unsettles her Spelljammer comrades. Written by Barbara Kesel, with art by new regular penciller Joe Quesada and Dan Panosian. Cover by Quesada and Joe Rubinstein. New Format. Issue 9: An evil wizard has cast a spell on Meredith, forcing her to act as an agent for his malevolent army planning an assault on the Spelljammer mothership. Written by Jeff Grubb, with art by Joe Quesada and Dan Panosian. Cover by Chris Wozniak and Jerry Acerno with a painted backdrop by Eric Kachelhofer. New Format. Issue 10: Spelljammer and Dragonlance meet as a space-travelling Spanish galleon crashes into Taladas and, as a reward for rescuing him, Giles Goforth relates to Riva Silvercrown the story of his run-in with Meredith, captain of the Spelljamming crew, in a special prose story. Written by Don Kraar, with art by Joe Quesada and Dan Panosian. Cover by Quesada and Joe Rubinstein. New Format. Issue 11: While Meredith and her crew take refuge in a dwarf citadel, Kirstig contemplates whether to challenge Meredith's leadership. Written by Barbara Kesel and Adam Blaustein, with art by Joe Quesada and Don Heck. Cover by Quesada and Joe Rubinstein. New Format. Issue 12: Jasmine is marooned in wildspace with a swiftly-shrinking air envelope and Meredith refuses to search for her. This forces a deadly confrontation between Meredith and Kirstig for control of Meredith's skyship. Written by Adam Blaustein, with art by Joe Quesada and Dan Panosian. Cover by Quesada and Joe Rubinstein. New Format. Issue 13: Meredith's skyship is impounded by a clan of warrior elves whose own warship is the spelljamming equivalent of an aircraft carrier! It's up to Tember to singlehandedly rescue the ship. Written by Adam Blaustein, with art by Joe Quesada and Dan Panosian. Cover by Quesada and Joe Rubinstein. New Format. Issue 14: Jasmine consults Elminster to discover why Meredith's actions seem so chaotic...and he casts a spell which reveals the major trauma in Meredith's life: her split with her son! Written by Don Kraar, with art by Rags Morales, Kevin West and Mickey Ritter. Cover by Michael Collins and Jerry Acerno. New Format. Issue 15: Final issue. Meredith's son, Bors, has forsaken his mother, but the deadly pirates of Gith may force him to break that vow when Meredith is taken hostage. Written by Don Kraar, with art by Joe Quesada, Dave Simons and Dan Panosian. Cover by Rags Morales. New Format. (And here's the description for the unpublished #16: Kirstig returns home to find herself the most reviled being in the world while the former High Priestess is persecuted unto death by her former subjects!) SpelljammerSpelljammer is a campaign setting originally published for the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (2nd edition) role-playing game, which features a fantastic (as opposed to scientific) outer space environment. Subsequent editions have included Spelljammer content; a Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition setting update was released on August 16, 2022. Spelljammer introduced into the AD&D universe a comprehensive system of fantasy astrophysics, including the Ptolemaic concept of crystal spheres. Crystal spheres may contain multiple worlds and are navigable using ships equipped with "spelljamming helms". Ships powered by spelljamming helms are capable of flying into not only the sky but into space. With their own fields of gravity and atmosphere, the ships have open decks and tend not to resemble the spaceships of science fiction, but instead look more like galleons, animals, birds, fish or even more wildly fantastic shapes. The Spelljammer setting is designed to allow the usual sword and sorcery adventures of Dungeons & Dragons to take place within the framework of outer space tropes. Flying ships travel through the vast expanses of interplanetary space, visiting moons and planets and other stellar objects. Like the Planescape setting, Spelljammer unifies most of the other AD&D settings and provides a canonical method for allowing characters from one setting (such as Dragonlance) to travel to another (such as the Forgotten Realms). However, unlike Planescape, it keeps all of the action on the Prime Material Plane and uses the crystal spheres, and the "phlogiston" between them, to form natural barriers between otherwise incompatible settings. Though the cosmology is derived largely from the Ptolemaic system of astronomy, many of the ideas owe much to the works of Jules Verne and his contemporaries, and to related games and fiction with a steampunk or planetary romance flavor. A strong Age of Sail flavor is also present. ShippingEconomy shipping provided.
