Description: This Early War 1940 WW2 German Mauser K98k Laminated Wood Rifle Stock is in good condition but has been damaged. The stock appears to be a Mauser Oberndorf made example produced in 1940 and is marked with an "L" denoting Luftwaffe service. The serial number "5590" can be found on the buttplate, the lower bout of the buttstock and the barrel channel. The bayonet stud is marked with a different serial number. Stamps can be found on the metal parts as well as on the buttstock and wrist of the stock. The stock stamps are worn but legible, no apparent evidence of sanding is present. Sadly, the stock has been broken off just after the rear barrel band and has been crudely glued back together. The break appears to be relatively clean however the glue has created a noticeable gap in the two pieces and a "bend" is detectable in the barrel channel. No barreled action has been tested with the stock and it is uncertain if this bend would prevent it proper installation. Total length measures just under 40". While it truly is a shame that this stock has been damaged, there is still strong restoration potential left. Please examine the photographs carefully for the best description of condition and conduct your own research to insure proper fit for your rifle, the stock shown is the one you will receive.
