This Franklin Mint Royal Geographical Society Millennium Clock is fitted with a solid brass 8-day wind-up movement created exclusively by Hermle & Sohn of Germany and consists of a cobalt blue glass earth globe accented with 24 karat gold, a satellite moon of blue lace agate and a time band which revolves with the moon as it circles the globe. It also contains a battery operated digital display that counted down to the year 2000 and has been reset to display the time. It can also be reset to display the month, day, and year. The clock is embellished with richly engraved plates and rests on columns of genuine marble accented with 24 k gold. The entire work is mounted in a clear glass dome. This limited-edition Millennium Clock from the Franklin Mint was commissioned by the Royal Geographic Society of Great Britain. This clock stands over 12 inches tall and weighs in at about 8 pounds.
