Description: This antique French sampler was found in France. The embroidered art depicts an image of Saint Didier before an altar with a bible. The image is surrounded with a wreath of embroidered flowers. The piece is dated 21 March 1842 and signed by Prudence Reynaud. The condition of the piece is good especially in view of its almost 200 year age. The background looks somewhat darkened with age, but all the embroidery is still in good condition with great color. The frame is newer and has some slight damage to the upper left. The reference to St. Didier is unclear, there are several and also a town and commune named after him in France.Measurements are: 18 1/2" by 16 3/4"Please note the reflections on the initial photo are just that. The glass is old and wavy.
