Description: Glenn Luther Martin [1886 1955] was an early American aviation pioneer who completed his first flight in 1909 in an aeroplane he built himself. On May 10, 1912, he flew a self-built Martin seaplane across the channel from Newport Bay to Catalina Island in California. In 1912 he founded the Glenn L. Martin Company and worked closely with the emerging film industry and flew his airplane in early movies for Parmount Pictures. In 1932, he was awarded the Collier Trophy for the development of the Martin B-10 bomber. His aircraft set numerous world records and he began building bombers for the United States Army which extended into World War II. His company merged in 1961 after his death with the Marietta Corporation to become the Martin-Marietta Corporation, then merged again in 1995 with Lockheed to become the Lockheed Martin Corporation. Listed for auction is the autograph of Glenn L. Martin signed on a card. The autograph is signed ''Glenn L. Martin'' in blue fountain pen and the card measures 5.00 x 3.00 inches and is in fine condition. The autograph will be accompanied with its original transmittal envelope.
