Description: This listing is for (1) ANTIQUE, 5 1/2" WHITE bone china plate that was made by Haviland Limoges in France. The Maker's Mark (H &M over L) dates the plate to the late 1880's based on my research which definitely makes it Antique. The plate has a scalloped edge with gold rimming and a yellow and green garland floral design around the edge. The plate is in VERY NICE Antique condition with no dents, chips or crazing whatsoever but there some definite loss of gold on the rim as the pictures will indicate. I have taken pictures of all quadrants of the rim so you can see what I mean and assess whether than bothers you. I am pretty perfectionistic and it didn't bother me as it is such a sweet little plate, definitely antique-- but everyone is different. I acquired the plate many, many years ago from an Antique dealer and used it as a display piece on an easel on a book shelf. We're getting ready to do a major downsizing so I must part with all but necessities as any new house will be much smaller. What I love about this plate, besides it being very delicate looking and pretty, is the inscription on the back which was there when I purchased it. The inscription is in yellow, hand painted and lists the plate's owner and her birthdate. The inscription says "MRS. HALL" and below it what I assume to be her birthdate, "MAR. 20, 1890" or the date she acquired the plate. I thought this was just so unusual as did the Antique dealer. Not sure if this woman was just wanting to "claim" her possessions or if it was a family tradition, but it is nice to know who owned the plate before me!
