Between 1879 and 1889 Somm participated in the exhibitions of the Impressionists at Durand-Ruel in Paris. As his recognition grew, Somm exhibited with several galleries in Paris including the Galerie Berth Weill in 1911and others in London and Dusseldorf. Working to supplement his career, Somm became a prolific illustrator collaborating with such publications as Le Chat Noir, La Charge, La Cravache, Chronique Parisienne, High-Life, Frou-Frou, L’Inutile, Chronique Passienne, Courier Français and Le Rire. Paintings, drawings, illustrations and prints of Henry Somm can be found at the Musée d’Orsay, Louvre, Rouen Musée des Beaux Arts, Daubigny Museum, Cleveland Art Museum, Museum of Rockhill Nelson in Kansas City, San Francisco Art Museum, and the Washington D.C. Museum of Fine Art.
