Description: Hand carved by Jose Pinal (1913-1983) this work of art features a man carrying a rolled up rug in mid-step. It is estimated to have been carved in the late 1930's to early 1940's. Often referred to as "The Mexican Picasso" Jose Pinal's work is often imitated but this is a one of a kind artwork...a wonderful example of the great Pinal's skilled artisan handiwork. It feature's Pinal's signature incised along the base of the carving. Overall the work is in good condition with 2 flaws...1) there is a minor edge deteriation on the front of the brim of the man's hat and 2) the man's walking cane is missing from his left hand. We've taken photos(as close as possible) of the flaws and have included them in the attached gallery. The carving measures approximately 9 1/2 inches in height, 7 inches in length and 3 1/2 inches width.
