Holstein’s initial entry into the retail arena commenced with Barney’s New York becoming a stockist. The Khaite brand launched in 2016, its flagship space located in SoHo, New York. “Khaite,” pronounced as in “Kate” from Catherine’s diminutive “Cate.” “Khaite” is also Greek for “flowing hair,” a nod to the brand’s focus on femininity. These beautiful Khaite tasseled “Oliver” clogs are a stylish spin on classic clogs. Made in Italy and constructed of luxurious supple calfskin in a deep chocolate brown. Featuring a carved wooden sole with a block heel and embellished with 31 polished brass tacks along the front and sides of each shoe. Undersides of soles possess a textured crepe-like surface for proper grip. The slightly oversized tassels lend a playful note to the silhouette. The photo gallery depicts the tassels wrapped in black tissue paper sleeves and shots with the tassels unsleeved — I did not fluff out the tassels but the last two stock photographs illustrate the tassels fluffed out and beautiful.
