Description: A. D. Worthington & Company, Hartford CN,1896. Vg hardcover without dust jacket, 546 pages, b/w plates, 8vo, black cloth, blind stamp border, illustrated with scenes from McKinley's life and military career, some age spotting and page yellowing, binding sound, unmarked, gilt spine titles are dulled but visible. This is a campaign book produced for McKinley's first campaign for president and as such is more scarce than the many hagiographic works that were produced after his assassination. Another point of interest is that his vice-president in his first term, who is discussed in the book ,was Garret A. Hobart, who was considered one of the rare involved and powerful vp's similar to H.W. Bush or Al Gore. He died during McKinley's first term and was succeeded by Theodore Roosevelt prior to McKinley's death.
