Description: Original antique long patterned rolled cloth from Germany around 1900/1920. It is made of beige pattern-woven half linen with an illustration Housewife hanging up the washed laundry in the garden. Rooster in the garden looks on, washing tub with washboard next to the housewife. Above the housewife saying "When the weather is nice and the sun is shining / it dries and rolls up nicely!" " This saying frames the image of a wooden scroll. The cloth is beige and the images are cream white. Blue border woven into the edge with the box mangle, garlands and two crossed rolls. Approximate size: 79 cm wide and 245 cm long. 31 inches wide and 96 inches long. Roll cloths were used to smooth out the house linen. The laundry was wrapped around rolling pins and then rolled in the ironer. To protect the laundry, it was wrapped in the rolling cloth. This piece is now ideal as a tablecloth, table runner, wall runner or curtain. The condition is very good. Unused, unwashed, finish is still present. Minimal traces of lying in the cloth, disappear when washed. With such antique textiles (over 100 years old) the condition is rarely flawless.
