Description: This one-of-a-kind piece of weathered wood is sizable and hefty. The contrasts of browns and blacks is striking. The hole goes all the way through. I'm not sure what kind of tree it's from, so I'm providing a list of possible trees found in and around Loch Raven:Tulip Poplar, American Beech, White Oak, Northern Red Oak, Chestnut Oak, Sassafras, Black Walnut, Mockernut Hickory, Pignut Hickory, Sycamore, Red Cedar, Eastern Hemlock, Virginia Pine, American Holly, Red Maple, Box Elder, Osage Orange, Flowering Dogwood, White Pine, Umbrella Magnolia, Norway Maple and Black Gum This piece has been rinsed off but just with water. I also lightly brushed it to remove debris. I have not used any cleaning agents so as not to contaminate. I cannot attest to the presence of any microorganisms, possible contaminants, etc...the wood is in it's most natural, rustic state.I am not an expert on driftwood but I will answer all questions honestly, so please ask before purchasing. In 1923, the dam was increased to 240 ft, it?s current height, and the true reservoir was created, now holding 23 billion gallons of water, enough to sustain the State of Maryland for approximately 50 days, a fact that is startling when one sees the size of the reservoir.According to [link removed by eBay], a hidden city can be found beneath the waters of Loch Raven Reservoir. This city was named Warren and was located near the Warren Rd. Bridge. Loch Raven Reservoir is the largest body of water located entirely within Baltimore County (Liberty Reservoir is larger but is in both Baltimore and Carroll Counties). The reservoir and the land surrounding it are owned and policed by Baltimore City. There are 2,400 acres of water surface.
