The history of Noritake dates to 1876, when a Japanese businessman Ichizaemon Morimura and his brother, Toyo opened Morimura Brothers in New York City. They sold at that time, Asian antiques and decorative arts. In 1889, Morimura visited the Exposition Universelle in Paris. There, he encountered the brilliance of French porcelain, which inspired him to create similar wares for the US market. He opened his first factory in Japan in 1904. No chips, cracks or crazing. 7 1/2" and 6 1/2"
