This extraordinary fragrance collection, over 1000 fragrances comes from the upper east side of Manhattan. (79th and 2nd avenue) The collection belonged to a Medical Doctor who was originally from France, and moved to NYC in the late 60's. I have documented the provenance of this collection (Please read and view all photos)The perfume was stored in his Manhattan apartment along with an extensive art collection. He also owned a home in NJ. Most of the perfume was stored in bins and on shelves inside a large walk-in closet.Many of the fragrance were stored in their original wrapping paper, and shopping bags from Bergdorf Goodman,Barney's, Bloomingdales, Lord and Tyler, Macy's. He spent most of his free time at Charity Events, Gales, Balls, and Openings. These events were held at places like Travel On The Green, The Plaza Hotel, MoMA, Whitney Museum,Lincoln Center, The Waldorf. Over the years he went to hundreds of these events. Many of the perfumes were acquired at these events (table gift bags) The gift bags usually included bottles of perfume.
