Description: RARE J. SILBER 1 Gallon Stoneware Crock Shenandoah Valley, Virginia A Rockingham County, Virginia semi-ovoid stoneware crock stamped "J.SILBER" with an encircled "1" gallon mark. A heavy, crudely made crock in darker grey clay typical of early Virginia pottery. Repaired rim chips and two tight hairlines from the rim. 7 1/2" tall x 7 3/4" in dia. Weighs 5.5 pounds. Rare maker's mark.
