Description: This rare medieval coin from the Kingdom of Castile and Léon is a genuine piece of history. Minted between the years 1295 and 1312, it features a castle on the obverse for the ancient city of Kastile. The reverse depicts a lion for the ancient city of Leon. There is some damage to the center of this con (see photos). This coin was minted under the rule of King Ferdinand IV. Ferdinand IV (born December 6, 1285, Sevilla—died September 7, 1312, Jaén, Andalusia) was the king of Castile and Leon, succeeding his father, Sancho IV, in 1295. It is a great addition to any collection of European medieval coins. 1623
