Description: Richard Brautigan Original Cover Draft Mock Ups for the Trout Fishing In America Laurel Edition ca.1972 based on the release year of the Laurel Edition. Possibly a bit earlier. Also possibly used for another later Edition... I say that because of the medium tanned page in pencil at the bottom left it says "Salmon Pink Same As on Delta Laurel series" On the finished white page top left it says "For 1.25 paper ed." That edition is the Laurel Series. . Super Interesting Brautigan Item from his Prime. I also want to mention that I don't believe the hand is Brautigan's. I can't rule out the annotations on the second draft consisting of the word "the" as well as a bunch of arrows and question marks. The Word "The" looks pretty close to my untrained eye. But we'll leave it as undecided. So to sum it up, these were the test covers to confirm the fonts, size of text etc.. of the Laurel series of the book. Pretty cool piece for any diehard Brautigan fan. Lot consists of: Typescript page featuring the reviews to be included on the rear cover, with notes in pencil in bottom margin: "Salmon pink, same as on Delta Laurel series." 28x21.5 cm (11x8"). Printed sheet with the title and reviews, with manuscript edits in pen.28x21.5 cm (11x8"). Sample sheet of the rear cover printed on semi-gloss paper. In pencil in the top left corner: "for 1.25 paper ed." 21x18 cm (8x7"). Small slip of paper bearing the title and author as they appear on the rear cover. 3x10 cm (1x4"). Condition. Very Good. Expected wear and tanning to Paper. Annotations in both pen and pencil. Light creasing to bottom right corner of finished draft. Light creasing and handling wear to others.
