Description: These foam wiper pads prevent chips and dirt from entering the unit. If a chip lodges in the gears it can cause damage and render dial unusable. They can be used on all Trav-A-Dial models and have an adhesive backing and does not require additional glue to attach. Use a sharp point such as a needle or a knife point to carefully lift the backing from the adhesive being careful not to damage the pad or the adhesive. IMPORTANT:Remove the old pad and all traces of glue. It may be necessary to use a solvent such as acetone, lacquer thinner or alcohol to dissolve the old glue. Soak the end of the gauge over night to soften old hard glue. Stand the gauge upright in a container with just enough solvent to cover the old wiper pad. Be careful not to scratch the the surface when removing the old glue residue and do not allow debris to enter the unit . Make sure that the surface is clean, smooth and free of oil before attaching the new wiper. After attaching the pad put a drop of oil on each end before installing the gauge on the mount.
