Description: For sale is one example of an enrolled Phacops trilobite (chosen at random from this box) which was found in Essimour, Alnif, Morocco. Some of these specimens exhibit beautiful eye lenses. These specimens measure between 5 mm and 30 mm in length. These specimens are around 360 million years old. It’s days ended during a turbulent turbidite flow event on the ocean floor (think of it as an underwater avalanche), which caused the trilobites to enrol into themselves as a defence mechanism. Trilobites were among the first animals to develop vision back in the Cambrian Period. Phacops trilobites had reletively large compound eyes that enabled it to see nearly 360 degrees.
