Description: Vintage 1977 Kmart Model KM-1000 3 HP Briggs & Stratton powered Lawn Mower made by Sunbeam Outdoor Corp. for Kmart. Mower was rarely used and has been in storage, unused for over 30 years. I recently removed it from storage and was able to start it with an oil change and some gas, on the third pull. Mower has always been kept in a garage. It has a large buildup of grass clippings on the bottom of the deck, which I did not remove when I put it into storage. I think the clipping sealed the bottom of the deck and significantly reduced the amount of rust during storage. The throttle cable broke a long time ago. I replaced it long ago with a spare cable I had that works, but is not the same length as the original. I still have the original cable that can be used to determine the correct length. The original cable also has the original mower throttle lever that should be returned to the mower to keep it all original. The original throttle cable can be seen next to the mower in some of the eBay ad photos. All parts on mower are original, except for my replacement throttle cable. The mower is missing the plastic button that was on the end of the original throttle lever. It apparently fell off at some point.
