Description: Offered for your consideration is a vintage DIETZGEN Sigma 1737 Decimal Trig Type Log-Log duplex slide rule, made in Japan c.1970. This slide rule was manufactured for DIETZGEN by Ricoh and features a layered bamboo core. It has the same scales as their Microglide 1734 but in a different arrangement and comes complete with its original heavy leather case. Please see my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this DIETZGEN slide rule should join your collection. This DIETZGEN Sigma 1737 is in clean, very good condition. It measures 12⅝” long by 1⅝” wide (not incl. the clear slide). There are no cracks, chips, scratches, or marker loss noted on the durable plastic scales or the bamboo plywood sandwiched between them, just some light marks from use, as pictured. Plus, the metal braces are in great shape with no oxidation. What’s more, there’s some discoloration to the plastic in places, which is typical, as pictured. I initially thought the marks were indelible, but then gave it a light cleaning after the photos were taken which lifted some of the blemishes and brightened it up! Also, the slides have smooth motion with tight tolerances preventing any wiggle or play. And, the leather sheath is in great shape with uniform finish, solid stitches, and just light wear and a small ink spot on the back detracting, as pictured.
