Description: Vintage/Antique Madame Alexander Mask-face Cloth Doll----1920s. Some minor stains but no tears in this doll or her clothing. All original clothing----a light pink dotted Swiss dress and bonnet, white lace-trimmed underclothes, and socks and Mary Jane tan shoes. Madame Alexander (Beatrice Alexander) grew up living above the workshop of her stepfather who ran a doll repair shop. Beatrice saw how the beautiful porcelain dolls, which were popular at the time, were subject to damage and breakage. She came up with a revolutionary idea when she began her doll company----beautiful cloth dolls that could be loved and played with and would be unbreakable. Thus, a legendary company began with an innovative product that was kid friendly. This doll is one of the early Madame Alexander dolls and features the charm and attention to detail that she is known for.
