Description: Recent estate purchase. An amazing piece of WW2 history (see below on what transpired there during WW2). The coin used on this lighter ties the history to this battle. The lighter is 1” in diameter by 4” tall. At a minimum it would need a new flint to operate. Please let me know if you have any questions. Tunisia was a battlefield during World War II. The Tunisian campaign, which took place from November 17, 1942 to May 13, 1943, was part of the North African campaign. The Allies, which included British Imperial Forces, American forces, and French forces, fought against the Axis, which included Germany and Italy. The campaign began with Allied amphibious landings in eastern Tunisia on January 5, 1943. The British Eighth Army crossed the border from Libya into Tunisia on February 4, 1943. The Allies entered Tunis on May 7, 1943, and 250,000 German and Italian troops surrendered five days later.
