Vintage/Antique, 14KT/585 Yellow Gold Case, Unknown Brand, Women's Watch.

Please come back often, as we are always buying more goodies to list on ebay. This listing is for a vintage Art Deco/Nouveau, Victorian 14K yellow gold, lady's wristwatch. This is a rare find indeed! Researching this item has proved challenging because I don't know who the maker of the watch is. There is no name on the dial or on the movement. The movement does say Swiss on it, though. There is a symbol on the movement that is hard to describe. It looks a bit like a lowercase g inside a circle. I'm including a close-up photo of the symbol for potential buyers to see. If anyone knows who this symbol represents, I'd appreciate it if you'd message me and help me improve this listing. The watch movement is not running and is missing its crown. The dial is in good condition but the red numbers that time the minutes are faded. The watch crystal is also in good condition with signs of age and wear, mainly light scuffs on the crystals surface. The watch case is just gorgeous. It has a Nouveau look to it, and to me looks earlier than Art Deco era, more Victorian. I didn't think that wristwatches were a thing, though until the 1920s, but maybe I'm wrong on that. I do believe this is an antique piece, and clearly a very early, lady's wristwatch. There is a slight ding on the back of the case. it should be expected that this watch, as an antique item, will show some signs of age and wear. The inside of the watch case is marked with several symbols and numbers. Most notably it is stamped 56/585/14KT/ The case has a serial number of 43014. Below the serial # is a symbol with the #105 or possibly 705. At the top of the inside of the case back is a symbol that kind of looks like a crown and a capital G below it. I think the G may be the company's trademark, but I still have no idea what company that may be. The case measures 21 mm across. The watch case and band weigh a total of 8.43 grams without the movement inside. Only the watch case, however, is solid 14KT gold. The watch band is gold filled. The watch case alone weighs about 4 grams. The gold-filled band shows its age. The band is detached at the clasp on one side and will need repair if the new owner wishes to keep it. In my opinion, the band needs replacing. This watch is just lovely and deserves a nicer band, again, in my opinion. I understand that currently most of the value of this watch is in the gold weight, and buyers may view it with scrapping it in mind, but if so, I hope buyers will reconsider. This is a beautifully crafted, antique piece of jewelry, that connects us to our heritage. These pieces cannot be replaced once they are gone, and they are rapidly disappearing. This item's value already exceeds its weight in gold, and one day this will be multiplied exponentially due to its rarity because of the fact that so many items like this are being scrapped. This watch needs a little TLC and repair, but it's a project well worth the investment! Pictures are to be considered as part of the description.
